As a counsellor, I work from a trauma-informed client-centred lens alongside attachment-
focused and narrative approaches. This means our sessions will focus on which unhelpful
thought patterns or beliefs are causing distress while also considering the influence of culture,
relationship patterns, and dynamics that we operate in. Since our thoughts, feelings, and
behaviours have an interconnected effect in our functioning and quality of life, our work together
will include understanding this flow and where we may be getting lost. That being said, I am
mindful that with healing modalities one size does not fit all, so I try to keep my sessions tailored
to the needs of my client as they arise. I often introduce therapeutic art interventions into some
sessions, using tools from CBT and positive psychology depending on what support is needed.
As someone who has always been driven by genuine care for my clients, I try to meet them from
a place of authentic non-judgment regardless of what is brought into the space that day.
I have always been drawn to both the fine arts and psychology, leading me to start my journey as
a mental health professional after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in art therapy from Lesley
University in Cambridge, Massachusetts prior to obtaining a dual Master’s in Counselling
Psychology; Art Therapy, from Adler University in Vancouver. These experiences created a
solid foundation of practice in both psychology counselling and art therapy. My early
counselling experiences included facilitating substance-abuse recovery and psychoeducational
groups for men on parole, individual counselling support for those in recovery, open studio
groups for folks living with developmental disabilities, and participating in Indigenous-lead
recovery circles as my own way of self-educating and decolonizing my approach to my mental
health care practice.
I approach healing with compassion in a comfortable and confidential environment. I aim for my
clients to receive a level of care that allows them to feel seen, understood, and supported.
Attention to inclusivity, cultural competence, gender-affirming care, and trauma-informed
listening are just a few ethical requirements that I hold for myself as a person and as a
professional. I am a certified RCC and also currently pursing my CCC and RCAT certifications
at this time, allowing me to accept a wide range of benefits and insurance from clientele.
One of my favourite artists, Frida Kahlo once said “I am my own muse, I am the subject I know
best. The subject I want to know better.” – I feel that my clients know themselves best, and I am
just here to support the reconnection with your authentic self. In session, I will
facilitate your growth toward a new level of self-compassion, and understanding. Thank you for
extending the gift of counselling to yourself, it can take a lot of courage to build self-worth,
acceptance, and empowerment - let’s explore how to do this together!
